Lenten Study Groups

Join us for an Adult Lenten Study on Thursdays during Lent (March 9 – April 13), from 12:00-1:00 p.m. or 7:00-8:00 p.m., at the parsonage – 812 14th Ave (white house across from the church, next to the parking lot).

Join Rev. Leigh on Thursdays during Lent for a study at the parsonage. (Feel free to bring a sack lunch for the noon gathering.) We will follow the Lenten devotional Wondrous Encounters by Fr. Richard Rohr. The book includes a short devotion and scripture reading for each day during Lent. Our weekly gathering will focus on the devotion/scripture reading for the Sunday prior (although the daily devotions may be touched upon as well). Check the Pathways page for weekly questions to reflect on prior to the group meetings. Books are $9.00; please sign up at the Welcome Center or contact the church office to receive one. Hope to see you there! All are welcome.

"There are two moments that matter. One is when you know that your one and only life is absolutely valuable and alive. The other is when you know your life, as presently lived, is entirely pointless and empty. You need both of them to keep you going in the right direction. Lent is about both. The first such moment gives you energy and joy by connecting you with your ultimate Source and Ground. The second gives you limits and boundaries, and a proper humility, so you keep seeking the Source and Ground and not just your small self." —From the introduction to Wondrous Encounters by Fr. Richard Rohr

Fr. Richard Rohr is a Franciscan priest and the founding director of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a popular author, speaker and leader of retreats. In Wondrous Encounters, Fr. Rohr invites us to self-disclosure and to enter the divine dialogue. The meditations are written for the sake of our transformation into our original "image and likeness," which is the very image of God.
